Top seed Flavia Pennetta moved into the semi-finals of the Swedish Open in Bastad with a straight-sets win over Jill Craybas.

The Italian broke twice and saved all 10 of the break points she faced on her way to a 6-4 6-4 success in two hours.

Aravane Rezai, the second seed from France, also progressed with a 6-1 6-4 victory over Spain's Arantxa Parra Santonja.

Third-seeded Czech Lucie Safarova beat Barbora Zahlavova Strycova, her compatriot and the eighth seed, 6-4 7-6 (7-4).

And Gisela Dulko ensured all four top seeds made it through to the last four. The Argentinean led Ana Vrljic 5-0 in the first set when the Croatian qualifier retired.

Meanwhile second seed Alexandra Dulgheru wasted little time in seeing off Anna Chakvetadze in the second round of the GDF Suez Grand Prix.

The match was suspended on Wednesday due to darkness after going into a third set which the Romanian wrapped up swiftly to claim a 7-6 (7-5) 1-6 6-2 win over her Russian opponent.

Third seed Timea Bacsinszky slipped to a 6-0 6-4 defeat to Alize Cornet.

The French player broke three times in the first set and twice more in the second to see off her Swiss opponent in one hour 20 minutes.

Fourth seed Anabel Medina Garrigues made it through with a 7-5 6-3 win over home favourite Greta Arn in a match which featured nine breaks of serve, six of them for the Spaniard.

Roberta Vinci, the sixth seed from Italy, lost 6-4 6-0 to Czech qualifier Zuzana Ondraskova, while seventh seed Agnes Szavay of Hungary was a 7-5 6-3 winner over Austria's Yvonne Meusburger.
