Top seed Flavia Pennetta was ousted from the Swedish Open as she was swept aside in style by her best friend and doubles partner Gisela Dulko in Bastad.
The Argentinean was on fire, breaking once in the first set and three times in the second to secure a 6-3 6-1 victory and a place in the final against France's Aravane Rezai.
"It was difficult to play against Flavia, she's my best friend. It was the best tennis I've played in a long time though," she told www.wtatour.com.
"To reach the final here means a lot. I wasn't that confident at the beginning of the tournament, but in the second round I saved match points, and since then I've been feeling good again."
"To be in a final again is the best feeling. I didn't expect to come this far."
Dulko and Pennetta later came back on court to beat Natalie Grandin and Vladimira Uhlirova and seal a place in the doubles final.
Second seed Rezai, meanwhile, beat Lucie Safarova of Czech Republic, girlfriend of Wimbledon finalist Tomas Berdych, 6-3 6-3 to reach her sixth WTA Tour final.
"Every day I'm playing better and better. I'm really happy to be here," said Rezai. "Gisela is a great player. We've played a few times."
"This time is different. I am going to play my game and be aggressive and the best player will win."
Dulko has won both their previous encounters.
Meanwhile Czech qualifier Zuzana Ondraskova continued to impress as she ousted Anabel Medina Garrigues to reach the semi-finals of the GDF Suez Grand Prix.
Ondraskova, who saw off sixth seed Roberta Vinci on Wednesday, needed just under three hours to beat Garrigues 7-5 1-6 6-4.
The 30-year-old broke quickly to take the opening two games and, although both players' serves let them down midway through the first set, broke again in the final game to take an advantage.
However, Garrigues stormed back in the second set, taking six games in a row after Ondraskova had won the opening game.
The fourth seed was seemingly in her stride as she broke early in the final set but Ondraskova recovered and broke twice before serving out the match.
Ondraskova will meet Patty Schnyder in the final four after last year's defeated finalist saw off eighth-seeded Polona Hercog 7-5 1-6 6-4.
The other semi will pit Alexandra Dulgheru against reigning champion and home favourite Agnes Szavay.
Second seed Dulgheru survived an early scare as she edged out Anastasija Sevastova of Latvia 6-7 (1-7) 6-2 7-6 (7-4).
The 21-year-old Romanian came from behind in two hours 43 minutes to book her place against Szavay.
Seventh seed Szavay crushed 2008 Budapest champion Alize Cornet in straight sets, taking just one hour 20 minutes to defeat the Frenchwoman 6-3 6-1.
