Neither the loss of the No.1 ranking or the perception of a Grand Slam bogey concern Caroline Wozniacki, who said she is determined to improve her game in the wake of her quarter final loss to Kim Clijsters in the Australian Open.
Wozniacki become the seventh top seed at the Australian Open in the past eight years to fail to win the title, bowing out in straight sets to the No.11 seed 6-3 7-6 (7-4).
She said the tournament has proven another learning experience for her and has vowed to go away and spend time working on the weaknesses in her game.
"To be honest, I don't really think about it," she said when asked about losing the top ranking.
"I have been there for a long time already. I finished No. 1 two years in a row. In the end of the year we will see who played the best."
"We are just in January. In the end of the year you see who has played the best, most consistently all year-round. So, I will get it back eventually, so I'm not worried."
She laughed off suggestions that she does not have the ability or the game to win a Grand Slam tournament, despite failing to make the final in the eight Grand Slam finals since she became No.1 in October 2010.
"I start laughing every time because the media talks to me like I'm finishing my career and I only have one year left and time is running out," she said.
"The fact is I still have quite a few good years in front of me. I can still improve. I still have a number of Australians and a number of US Opens and Wimbledons and French Opens left."
"I will definitely do my best and try to win one or even more. In the end of the day, you can just do your best. You can't do anything more than that. If your best is good enough, that's great."
"If not, then it's just too good from the other person. I will come back not only once but more times."
And despite losing to Clijsters in all three of their encounters, she is confident that she has the game to beat the experienced Belgian if they should meet again.
"Kim is very experienced. I mean, she's a great player. Of course I really don't like losing. I try to go in and try to win every time I play, but today Kim was just that little bit better than me, she said.
Wozniacki said she will spend the next few weeks working on her game with no Fed Cup matches to worry about.
