World No.5 David Ferrer insists he is happy playing away from the main courts after he booked his spot in the final 16 of the Australian Open on Saturday.
Ferrer, who reached the semi-finals at Melbourne Park last year, has been denied a chance to play on either Rod Laver Arena or Hisense Arena so far this tournament with his past two victories on Show Court 2 following his opening-round win on Margaret Court Arena.
Despite being the fifth best player in the world, organisers have kept him off the big courts with other players outside the top four such as Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Tomas Berdych and Juan Martin del Potro all getting their chance instead.
"No, it's okay. I don't have any problem for to play in the Court No. 2, centre court, or Hisense. It's not a problem for me," he said after his 7-5 6-2 6-1 win over Juan Ignacio Chela.
"No, is not difficult. All the courts are the same. Is not difficult for me."
"Of course, I like to play in big stadiums, in centre courts. If I don't play in a centre courts, I have to play to another court, it's not a problem."
"For me, it's tennis. Me only, I am focused with the next opponent."
Ferrer dropped the opening four games against Chela before regrouping to claim a tight opening set before racing through the final two.
He attributed his poor start to nerves, but was pleased with the way he finished the match off.
"I don't start really good. I start a little bit nervous. He was play very, very good the first games," he said.
"And after, when I won the first set, it was more easy, no? I play better with my shots. I play with more confidence. I did a good game, no?"
"Finally the second and the third set, I play good."
Ferrer's opponent in the fourth round will be 17th seed Richard Gasquet and he knows his must bring his 'A' game to get past the talented Frenchman.
"He's a top player. He has a very good talent. He plays very good in the net," he said.
"He has a very good first serve."
"So I need to play my best tennis for to win Richard."
"He's a top 15. He was top 10 one year. He did one Masters Cup. He was with the best players, no? So I think is a very consistent player."
"But is difficult. All the players play good."
"All the tops, the tennis is very close, you know, is very difficult for to win all the matches. We have to fight a lot."
"But I think for me Richard, he can come back again to top 10."
