Cirstea shines in Thailand

Cirstea shines in Thailand

02/06/2012 08:35:38 PM

Romanian Sorana Cirstea was an easy winner in the first round of the PTT Pattaya Open in Thailand.

Cirstea, seeded seventh, cruised past Japan's Erika Sema 6-2 6-2 in a ruthless victory that lasted just 73 minutes.

And Cirstea, who beat 2011 US Open champion Samantha Stosur in the first round of the 2010 Australian Open, could have won even easier if she had served better, with the winner landing just 49 percent of her first serves.

It mattered little though as she made six breaks of serve from a whopping 16 break point opportunities in the match.

The day's other match saw Australian Anastasia Rodionova topple Frenchwoman Iryna Bremond 6-4 6-0.

Rodionova made four breaks during her victory and saved all five break points she gave her opponent in her easy win.
