Winther claims only medal

Sara Winther was the only New Zealander to pick up a podium finish at the Skandia Sail for Gold regatta which finished at Weymouth on Saturday.

She took a third in the Radial six points behind Dutch sailor Marit Bouwmeester and three behind Finn Sari Multala..

Andrew Murdoch had a fourth in the Laser, finishing two points behind third placegetter Michael Leigh of Canada in the class which was dominated by Australian Tom Slingsby. Mike Bullot finished seventh overall.

Dan Slater finished sixth in the Finn which was won by Britain's Giles Scott with favourite Ben Ainslie in fouth place.

Another sixth placing came to Jon-Paul Tobin in the RSX: Men.

Jo Aleh and Olivia Powrie in the 470 women, Peter Burling and Blair Tuke in the 49er and three eighths in the 470 women, the 49er and Hamish Pepper and Craig Monk in the Star all finished eighth overall.
