Wind dies in Cartagena

Wind dies in Cartagena

08/26/2010 08:04:41 PM

No sailing was possible on the second day of the Audi MedCup Cartagena regatta on Thursday.

The sea breeze failed to hold and racing was abandoned.

At one stage it looked as if racing might start and the fleet went to the race area but as the boats assembled, the six-seven knots of breeze fell away.

The crews sat it out in hot temperatures until just before 4pm when the fleet was sent back to port.

Friday's race schedule has been changed with the coastal race cancelled and replaced by three windward-leeward races – so long as the wind co-operates.

Forecasts do appear favourable.
