Three more years for Plumtree

Three more years for Plumtree

06/14/2010 06:53:18 PM

Sharks coach John Plumtree has extended his contract for a further three years.

The 44-year-old, winner of Currie Cup medals as both player and coach of the province, has signed on to remain in his post until the end of 2013.

"I am pleased to commit to the Sharks for the next three years as we seek to develop and grow the team for the future," said Plumtree, who guided the side to Absa Currie Cup glory in 2008 - their first silverware since 1996.

"Just as team continuity and experience is vital amongst playing personnel, the coaching management can only grow with continuity and I look forward to the next three years with the same excitement and passion that has characterised my time with the Sharks in the past - both as a player and in a coaching role."

Plumtree is currently in New Zealand and will return from his homeland on June 23 after attending a coaching course with IRANZ (International Rugby Academy of New Zealand) and also observing conditioning and fitness methods in Australia.
