Former All Black and Crusaders' centre Casey Laulala is uncertain of his future with the Cardiff Blues.
Laulala, 30, comes of contract at the end of the season and has been targeted by Munster.
Laulala told the Western Mail his preference was to stay in Cardiff where his family was well settled but he did not know if a new deal would be forthcoming from the Cardiff Blues.
While he understood the Blues were keen to retain his services he said there was nothing on paper.
"Everything is up in the air," Laulala said.
The club is close to securing a Heineken Cup quarter-final berth but attendances in Cardiff have not been high.
"Coaching-wise we are doing well and there are some young players coming into the team. But we need to keep some of the older players, it's a must," he said.
Twenty players come off contract at the end of the season.
"It would be nice to stay but I have got to be realistic. I'm only 30 this year and, realistically, have four years left of my playing time. I would like to make the most of them," he said.
While Munster has him in the sights there is also believed to be interest in Japan.
Cardiff need to be beat Paris Racing to claim a Heineken Cup place.
