New Zealand remain on course to defend their Wellington Sevens title after overcoming France 22-7 in their Cup quarterfinal.
Like yesterday against Scotland, the New Zealanders were slow out of the blocks going behind to a Renaud Delmas try which was converted by Terry Bouhraoua.
But it was the only points Les Bleus scored as Tim Mikkelson, Charles Piutau and Hosea Gear all crossed before half-time to give the hosts a comfortable 17-7 lead.
There was plenty of off-the-ball niggle from the French in the second half which eventually resulted in Paul Albaladejo being sent to the sinbin.
The New Zealanders took full advantage with Frank Halai showing good strength to stretch out and score to put the result beyond doubt.
New Zealand will play England in the semifinals.
Kenya, Wales, Australia and Argentina all progressed to the Bowl semifinals after defeating Scotland, United States, Japan and the Cook Islands in their respective quarterfinals. The latter four will play off for the Shield.
