NZ improve in loss

NZ show defensive resolve in loss

01/21/2012 11:12:09 PM

The New Zealand women's hockey team have continued their winless streak at the Four Nations tournament, going down 0-2 to Britain.

While they had improved remarkably, two goals in the first half ensured the Kiwi women would have a tough assignment if they were to get back into the game.

While it was a defeat, the nature of the result against a side that was unbeaten throughout the tournament gave New Zealand coach Mark Hager some positives to draw on.

"Defensively we were a lot better today and we looked like the team of old."

Hager had been impressed with the mixture of youth and experience in the side, led by striker Krystal Forgesson.

New Zealand face Korea in the battle for third and fourth before beginning their Champions Trophy next Sunday.
