The Hockeyroos’ World Cup preparations look to be on track after they pushed tournament favourites Argentina all the way in a 3-2 loss.

The Hockeyroos went into half-time at 2-2 thanks to goals from Shelly Liddelow and Ashleigh Nelson before falling to a late penalty corner from the Argentines.

Despite the loss, the Hockeyroos will be pleased with their efforts which saw them take the lead twice throughout the match and produce a solid performance with Nicole Arrold, Madonna Blyth and Kim Walker among those who impressed.

The Aussies will continue their preparation for the Women’s World Cup, to be held in Rosario, Argentina from August 29 to September 12 with practice matches against South Africa and Japan to come.
