New York Rangers forward Marian Gaborik led Team Chara to a 12-9 win over Team Alfredsson in the NHL All-Star game on Sunday.
For the second year in a row, captains picked the sides with the old conference vs conference format scrapped.
The high-scoring game in Ottawa proved entertaining from the start, with Gaborik stealing the show.
The New York Rangers forward put two goals past teammate Henrik Lundqvist in the first quarter and he wrapped up his hat-trick in the second period as the scores were tied at 6-6.
Gaborik's dream night continued as he laid on an assist in the third quarter and quick-fired goals from Marian Hozza, Zdeno Chara and Corey Perry saw the eventual winners kick away and record a comfortable victory.
In his third All-Star appearance, Gaborik became the first player to score a hat-trick in the match since 2008 and just the 16th overall.
Gaborik has scored 25 goals for the Eastern Conference leading Rangers this season.
