The Boston Bruins edged the Philadelphia Flyers with a 6-5 shootout win in the NHL on Sunday (local time), while the Pittsburgh Penguins also won.
The 2-1 win in the shootout helped the Bruins - the defending Stanley Cup champions - draw level on points with Eastern Conference leaders the New York Rangers.
While Patrice Bergeron, Tyler Seguin and Milan Lucic helped the Bruins to an early 3-1 lead, Flyers left wing Scott Hartnell netted a second-period hat-trick to put his team ahead.
But the Bruins responded again, and the Flyers needed Maxime Talbot's equaliser 10 minutes 38 seconds into the final period to force overtime.
David Krejci and Seguin netted either side of Claude Giroux in the shootout, before Tim Thomas denied Wayne Simmonds to seal the Bruins' win.
Elsewhere, centre Evgeni Malkin scored once and had two assists in the Pittsburgh Penguins' 4-3 overtime win against the Washington Capitals.
The teams were locked at 3-3 when Malkin netted what proved to be the winner 91 seconds into the final period.
A brace from Bobby Ryan guided the Anaheim Ducks to a 3-2 victory over the Colorado Avalanche.
