New Zealand's squad to prepare for the World Netball Championships and the Commonwealth Games was announced on Wednesday.
The 17-strong squad has four key additions with the return of three players, Daneka Wipiiti, Leana de Bruin and Anna Scarlett, and the inclusion of Cathrine Latu in preparation for her return to eligibility in the next 12 months.
A selection camp will be held in Auckland starting on July 26 which will see the squad reduced to 12 for the Test series against Samoa, Jamaica and Australia and the Commonwealth Games.
Coach Ruth Aitken said the ANZ Championship had been fruitful for the selectors as they analysed players in every aspect of their game.
"There have been some tough calls that have had to be made," she said.
"This group of players include some young talent growing in experience and that we know will be competing strongly for players in the team through to the world champs next year."
The return of former Silver Ferns had heightened the competition across the squad.
The squad is: Liana Barrett-Chase, Leana de Bruin, Wendy Frew, Temepara George, Katrina Grant, Joline Henry, Charlotte Kight, Laura Langman, Cathrine Latu, Camilla Lees, Grace Rasmussen, Anna Scarlett, Anna Thompson, Maria Tutaia, Irene van Dyk, Casey Williams, Daneka Wipiiti.
Frew is unavailable for the trials due to shoulder surgery while Lees is unavailable until November due to medical studies.
