Rossi in support of radio communication in MotoGP

Valentino Rossi was denied the chance of victory in Germany after staying out too long on wet tyres.

Movistar Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi says he would be in support of Formula One-style radio communication in MotoGP after another rain-affected race.

Rossi missed out on the chance of victory at the Sachsenring on Sunday, eventually finishing down in eighth, having stayed out on the track too long before switching to his spare bike fitted with slick tyres.

Championship leader Marc Marquez made the move at the right time, going on to uppercut the leading group and cruise to victory in Germany.

It is the second time in two years Rossi has made an error in judgement at a rain-affected race, also waiting too long to switch bikes in Misano in 2015.

The Italian was asked if MotoGP riders should be fitted with radio communication, saying: "It's not Formula One, but for sure now if we can have direct communication with the pit box it can be a lot more easy.

"Sometimes with the pit board it is difficult, for example if you take Assen, if they say to me that I have already two seconds of advantage, I just have to slow down and I can avoid the mistake.

"So if it's possible have a radio, I don't know why we don't have. Maybe the cost, but can be important to have yes."

However, Honda's Marquez - who holds a 48-point lead in the riders' standings - was not so keen on the idea.

"For me, no, because I cannot imagine leaning into a corner at 200 miles per hour and somebody speaking. This is not cars. For me, no way," the Spaniard said. "You just need to have a good plan before the race.

"In our case everything was clear. In our team we work a lot on these situations after 2013 in Australia [when he was black flagged for missing the compulsory pit stop]. We work very hard to have everything under control but you never know."
