As for Webber, who did at least recover to finish third in Istanbul Park, he showed there is no lingering animosity by signing a new one-year deal earlier this week through to the end of next season.

As suggestions of favouritism were rife in Turkey, Webber insists he would not have put pen to paper if he had felt that was the case.

"I'm comfortable in the team and have been since I arrived," said Webber.

"Nothing has changed in any of the contracts since I've been here, ever. It's always been straight up."

"At this stage in my career I would never hang around for another season if I didn't think I was going to get a fair crack, so it's all good."
