Michael Schumacher has texted an apology to Rubens Barrichello for almost forcing him into a wall during this month's Hungarian Grand Prix.
The seven-time world Formula One world champion apologised to Barrichello on his official website after the race, but the Brazilian revealed on Thursday his former Ferrari team mate had texted him to offer a personal apology before Sunday's Belgian Grand Prix.
Speaking ahead of what will be his 300th Grand Prix, 38-year-old Williams driver Barrichello said he had no problem with the German ace.
"I just received a message from him today, funnily enough," Barrichello said.
"I just said thank you, no problem. Life goes on ... and I wished him a good weekend too."
Schumacher, who now races for Mercedes, said he didn't want the text message to be seen as impersonal, and added he would apologise to Barrichello face-to-face this weekend.
"I have no problem to speak to Rubens, absolutely indeed," the 41-year-old said.
"One of the main reasons I sent the text was because it is his 300th grand prix and we have quite a history together so I thought it was appropriate to congratulate him and clarify the point."
"He sort of felt that I wanted to push him against the wall and very clearly this was not my ambition. I wanted to race very tightly but without any wall in contact and to clarify this point, if he felt that was the case, then I was sorry for that."
