Slender win keeps Hull KR alive
Hull Kingston Rovers kept alive their chances of reaching the Super League play-offs with a 24-22 win over St Helens on Sunday.
Australian Blake Green scored two first-half tries for Hull KR, with Sam Lotus also crossing in the opening 40 minutes for the hosts at Craven Park.
St Helens matched the hosts to the break, with two tries to Jamie Foster and another to Matty Ashurst keeping the scores level at 16-16 at half-time.
Craig Hall's catch, and subsequent try, put the Robins six points ahead, before a Michael Dobson penalty increased their advantage to eight.
The Saints scored a consolation try after the final siren had sounded, with Lee Gaskell crossing, before Foster kicked his third conversion of the game.
Hull KR are ninth on the table, one point shy of local rivals Hull FC, who blew away Crusaders 58-18 in the day's other match.
Doubles to Craig Fitzgibbon and Sam Obst helped Hull FC thrash their opponents at Wrexham, with Joe Westerman booting five goals and Danny Tickle adding another two.
Tickle left the field early, however, with a hamstring problem, but Hull's worries are minimal compared to those of Crusaders - with the Welsh outfit playing their last home match in the British top flight ahead of their impending relegation.
