Levin shoots clear in Phoenix

Levin three clear in Phoenix

Spencer Levin holds a three-shot lead after the second round of the Phoenix Open was suspended due to darkness on Friday.

The American carded an eight-under-par 63 to move into 14 under at the TPC Scottsdale in Arizona, as 34 players failed to finish their rounds.

Harrison Frazar is one of those players, at 11 under through 15 holes and with a chance to close the gap on Levin when round two resumes early on Saturday.

John Huh and Webb Simpson both finished at eight-under to be tied for third, while Kyle Stanley - who gave up a huge lead in the final round of the Farmers Insurance Open last week - is a shot behind them.

First round co-leaders Ryan Palmer and Jason Dufner are both at six-under after managing one-over rounds of 72.

Levin produced the highlight of his round late on, chipping in from a greenside bunker for an eagle on the par-four 17th hole.

He had earlier birdied six holes in a fine round backing up his opening-day 65.

Frazar, with three holes to play, is blemish-free after managing six birdies, while Simpson had a seven on the par-four fifth to ruin his otherwise solid round.

Likely to miss the projected cut of even-par are the likes of veterans YE Yang and Vijay Singh, who are both at four-over par.

Interruptions to play across the opening two days is nothing new for the PGA Tour tournament in Arizona, with the most recent Friday cut coming at the 2006 Open.
