Peter Jungschlager has declared his intention to play on in the A-League next season - but whether it is with Gold Coast United remains to be seen.
The 27-year-old, who signed from Eredivisie outfit De Graafschap on a one-year deal, is one of a majority of players at the club who face an uncertain future as the wait continues for talks over extensions.
He says he is settled on the Gold Coast and has thoroughly enjoyed a successful first season down under.
But United's tardiness when it comes to renewing the contracts of senior players could once again prove to be a stumbling block.
Statistics rank the classy Dutchman as among the best in the A-League in terms of creating goals.
Jungschlager has provided five assists for United this season, a number that puts him equal second in the competition along with some esteemed company.
Brisbane superstar Thomas Broich, Adelaide marquee Dario Vidosic, Heart whizkid Aziz Behich, Wellington livewire Daniel and Mariners fullback Pedj Bojic have also laid on five goals apiece.
The dynamic midfielder, who has played centrally and on the right, has proved his worth this season - and all United's billionaire backer Clive Palmer has to do now is put a contract in front of him to keep him.
"I want to stay in Australia, definitely," Jungschlager told Sportal.
"It is a nice place to play football and I hope I can stay at Gold Coast, but we will have to wait for that."
"Of course, I play here and I have to wait for an offer. They are the first team I will speak to."
"There are no other offers yet, but it's 10 games before the finish now so there's enough time for that."
The vultures have already begun to circle Gold Coast's off-contract contingent, which also contains captain Michael Thwaite and wonderkid James Brown.
To ensure they remain on the tourist strip, Jungschlager said the club must act now.
"Everybody wants to know where they're playing next year. I think now is the best time for the club to speak with players about next year."
"Hopefully it comes soon."
Meanwhile, Jungschlager's countryman, defensive midfielder Paul Beekmans, has been released from Gold Coast on compassionate grounds.
The towering anchorman flew back to the Netherlands last week after hearing of a family illness and was initially granted two weeks personal leave, but the club says he will now not make a return.
