Robinho snubs Turkey

Robinho snubs Turkey

08/25/2010 09:20:43 AM

Manchester City striker Robinho has rejected a move to Turkish side Fenerbahce, preferring to play in either Italy or Spain.

The 26-year-old Brazilian was signed by City for 32.5 million pounds in September 2008, and has recently returned to Eastlands after a loan stint with his first club Santos.

He is out of favour with City boss Roberto Mancini who is looking to recoup some of his 100-million-pound summer outlay before the transfer window closes on Tuesday.

While the striker's future may be unclear, he seems certain Turkey is not part of his plans.

"(Fenerbahce) were the only team who sent an official proposal but it's already decided that I'm not going," Robinho told globoesporte.com.

"With all due respect to Turkish football, I'm not going to play there at the moment."

"I've got talks going on but I can't reveal anything yet. A week is time to do a lot of things. The only thing I'll say is that I'll carry on in Europe, in Italy or Spain."

EPL-The Final Day

What a day it was; Manchester City had the title, then lost it, then had it again. Bolton were safe, then just as quickly they were gone. Arsenal secured their place in next season's Champions League, while fourth-placed Tottenham must wait until Sunday morning to see whether they will join them or not.
