Robinho joins Milan

08/31/2010 06:54:33 PM

Former Manchester City striker Robinho has signed with Italian Serie A club AC Milan on a four-year, 15-million-pound (AU$25million) deal on Wednesday.

The deal is a huge loss for City, who splashed out a transfer record 32.5 million pounds to acquire the Brazil international from Real Madrid in 2008.

Robinho has had an unhappy time at Manchester City, failing to live up to his transfer tag with a number of disappointing performances and spending time on loan at top-flight Brazil outfit Santos last term after falling out with City boss Roberto Mancini.

Milan striker Marco Borriello has moved to rival Serie A club Roma on a season-long loan to make room for Robinho, while Genoa have signed former Milan defender Kakha Kaladze to a two-year contract.

Meanwhile, Juventus have welcomed Arsenal full-back Armand Traore on a season-long loan, as well as Napoli centre-half Leandro Rinaudo.

Brescia have acquired defender Jonathan Zebina on a two-year deal after the former French international was released on a free transfer by Juventus.

Cesena confirmed the signature of centre-back Yohan Benalouane on a one-year loan deal from French Ligue 1 club St Etienne.

In Germany, Schalke 04 signed 24-year-old Spanish midfielder Jose Manuel Jurado from Atletico Madrid, along with French defender Nicolas Plestan from Lille and Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar from AC Milan in a busy day for the Bundesliga side.

Stuttgart signed Italian midfielder Mauro Camoranesi from Juventus on a one-year deal, while Hoffenheim picked up Iceland midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson after a 4.25-million pound bid from the Bundesliga side was accepted by Championship club Reading.

In Spain, La Liga outfit Valencia signed Lithuania international defender Marius Stankevicius on a season-long loan from Serie A side Sampdoria.

Spanish giants Real Madrid have agreed to loan defender Royston Drenthe to La Liga newcomers Hercules for the season.

In France, Lyon signed Dynamo Kiev's Senegalese central defender Pape Diakhate on a season-long loan with the option of a permanent move at the end of the season.

The 26-year-old enjoyed a loan spell with Lyon's Ligue 1 rivals St Etienne last season where he was a key player in helping them avoid relegation.

Ligue 1 leaders Toulouse have acquired Paraguayan striker Federico Santander on a season-long loan from Club Guarani d'Asuncion.

In Turkey, Galatasaray have welcomed Liverpool defender Emiliano Insua on a season-long loan and Wolfsburg midfielder Zvjezdan Misimovic on a four-year contract.

Everton defender Joseph Yobo has joined Super Lig rivals Fenerbahce on loan.

EPL-The Final Day
14/05/2012 4:41:36 PM
What a day it was; Manchester City had the title, then lost it, then had it again. Bolton were safe, then just as quickly they were gone. Arsenal secured their place in next season's Champions League, while fourth-placed Tottenham must wait until Sunday morning to see whether they will join them or not.
