Milan downs Chievo

03/14/2010 11:17:08 PM

AC Milan's 1-0 win over Chievo - a result which allowed it to keep pace with city rivals Inter at the top of Serie A - was marred by an Achilles tendon injury to David Beckham.

The former England captain, who has won 115 caps, has been ruled out of the World Cup finals this summer with the injury, which came in the latter stages of Sunday night's win.

Substitute Clarence Seedorf scored a stoppage-time winner to lift AC Milan to victory over Chievo at the San Siro.

The Dutch midfielder entered the game with 11 minutes remaining and knocked in the only goal to pull the Rossoneri to within one point of leaders Inter Milan.

Third-placed Roma was held to a 3-3 draw by relegation-threatened Livorno, for whom Cristiano Lucarelli netted a hat-trick.

Simone Perrotta (twice) and Luca Toni was on target for the Giallorossi, who squandered the lead on two occasions and also missed a penalty on an afternoon of frustration for coach Claudio Ranieri.

Antonio Floro Flores scored twice as Udinese ended fourth-placed Palermo's three-game winning streak with a 3-2 win which enhanced its own survival chances.

Flores netted after 44 and 65 minutes after Fabrizio Miccoli had briefly levelled for the Bianconeri at the Stadio Frulli.

Kwadwo Asamoah struck a third with 20 minutes remaining for Udinese and, despite conceding an acrobatic Edison effort 10 minutes from time, the hosts held on to add to its cushion against relegation.

Siena launched a stunning second-half fightback to recover from 3-0 down and earn a 3-3 draw as Juventus' disappointing campaign continued at Stadio Olimpico.

Three goals in the opening 10 minutes from Alessandro Del Piero (twice) and Antonio Candreva looked to have secured the points for Alberto Zaccheroni's fifth-placed side, who had entered the match on the back of three wins from their last four games.

But Massimo Maccarone got a goal back for the basement battlers just before the interval before two goals from Abdel Ghezzal, the second from the spot, sealed the most unlikely of comebacks.

Sixth-placed Sampdoria was held to a 1-1 draw at Bologna as Daniele Gastaldello's 86th-minute strike was cancelled out in stoppage time by Andrea Raggi.

Elsewhere, Genoa edged a thriller with Cagliari 5-3, Bari won 2-0 at Lazio and Parma beat 10-man Atalanta 1-0.
