Herbert to coach Socceroos?

03/16/2010 11:36:44 PM

for a country that has previously had coaches born in Holland, Argentina, England, Scotland, Serbia, Germany, Bosnia and Slovakia, who are we to snub a Kiwi?

It's not as if a New Zealand coach in charge of an Australia national team is a new thing. Robbie Deans, a man who a lot of our Kiwi brothers and sisters think should be coaching the All Blacks, has been the Wallabies coach since 2008.

With whoever replaces Verbeek only likely to be in the job until the next World Cup qualification campaign begins, why not give it to Herbert, who has achieved the most of any A-League coach this season considering the talent he has had at his disposal?

Upon completing his duties, he can return to the All Whites a better coach and New Zealand football will be better for his experience.

Of course Herbert would have to be convinced of the merits of taking on the role, but he doesn't strike you as a person who is frightened of taking on a challenge.

European Coaches is THE only answer.Plans and practical implementation for development at grass roots is paramount for our success (for Coaches,Players and Referees)other ways we will go back to dark ages, when we could NOT qualified for the WC for decades.Current administration at FFA is to be applauded for everything they did to advance our standing around the globe...why ruin it now.Best example of what Europeans Coaches can do and produced...look no further then Sydney FC...in a year he totally transformed whole club in a real professional unit, not to mention style and brand of football, which is very pleasing a real "beautiful game"that everybody loves.

NZ play a European style game and given Rikki's silk purse from a sow's ear success, i reckon he can grow the game within Oz. He can only strengthen it.

EPL-The Final Day

What a day it was; Manchester City had the title, then lost it, then had it again. Bolton were safe, then just as quickly they were gone. Arsenal secured their place in next season's Champions League, while fourth-placed Tottenham must wait until Sunday morning to see whether they will join them or not.
