Heerenveen up to fourth

Heerenveen up to fourth

02/03/2012 11:02:56 PM

Heerenveen has seen off a spirited challenge from Roda JC to post a 4-3 victory and move fourth in the Eredivisie on Friday night.

Bas Dost gave hosts Heerenveen an early lead at Abe Lenstra Stadion, the Dutch striker netting his 18th goal of the season after five minutes.

Roda striker Sanharib Malki levelled four minutes later, before Daryl Janmaat restored Heerenveen's advantage.

But goals either side of half-time from Malki and Davy de Beule gave Roda a surprise lead after 51 minutes.

The hosts rallied, however, drawing level on the hour through former Melbourne Heart player Gerald Sibon before the prolific Dost netted what would prove to be the winner on 70 minutes.

Heerenveen now move above Ajax, who can reclaim fourth place with victory over FC Utrecht on Saturday while Roda remain ninth.

EPL-The Final Day

What a day it was; Manchester City had the title, then lost it, then had it again. Bolton were safe, then just as quickly they were gone. Arsenal secured their place in next season's Champions League, while fourth-placed Tottenham must wait until Sunday morning to see whether they will join them or not.
