Speculation that Aiden McGeady will leave Celtic continues to grow after he was left out of the side that was thumped 3-0 by Portuguese side Braga on Wednesday.
Celtic's chances of making the Champions League group stage now appear shot after a miserable first-leg performance, and to qualify the Hoops will need to overturn their three-goal deficit in the second leg at Celtic Park next week.
McGeady, 24, has been linked with Russian side Spartak Moscow which reportedly has bid 10 million pounds to acquire his services. English Premier League side Aston Villa has also been linked with the Irish winger.
"Unless I am told differently, (McGeady) is playing. It is as simple as that," Celtic manager Neil Lennon told reporters on Tuesday afternoon.
But his omission from the side just over 24 hours later has reignited rumours that Celtic was keen to make sure McGeady was not Cup-tied and that he is on the move from Celtic Park.
McGeady has already made 185 Scottish Premier League appearances for Celtic scoring 31 goals and also has 28 caps for the Republic of Ireland.
Last year's SPL runner-up, Celtic has splashed the cash in the off-season making numerous signings, with its latest acquisition, Gary Hooper, costing 2.4 million pounds from Scunthorpe United.
Hooper did not play but fellow new signings Cha Du-Ri, Charlie Mulgrew, Joe Ledley and Efrain Juarez all made their Celtic debuts and were less than impressive.
Lennon will be hoping his new players can contribute more in the second leg next week.
