Brunt sticks with Baggies

Chris Brunt has committed to English Premier League newcomer West Bromwich Albion for a further three years.

The Northern Ireland international was an integral part of the Baggies' 2009-10 Championship-winning season, which saw the club promoted to the EPL for the second time in three years.

Brunt, 25, has scored 26 goals in 122 appearances since his arrival from Sheffield Wednesday, and picked up the player of the year award during his first season in the Premier League despite Albion being relegated.

The left-footed winger has told West Brom's official website that he is thrilled to be staying on at the club.

"I'm delighted to sign this new deal because I feel really settled at the club, just like my family does in the area," he said.

"The club's heading in the right direction and this is a nice bonus ahead of what I hope will be a big season both for the team and on a personal level."

"I've won promotion with the club twice now and I want to top that by helping to establish Albion in the Premier League."

"That's the challenge facing the coaching staff and players and if we all pull together I believe we can have a successful season."

"The fans have been great to me during the past three years and I'm sure they'll get right behind us next season when we will need them more than ever."

West Brom manager Roberto Di Matteo said Brunt's extension is well-deserved.

"'Brunty' fully deserves his new deal as he is an important player for us both on and off the field," he said.

"He was a pillar of our promotion success last season and he has another important role to play this season as we look to establish ourselves in the Premier League."

EPL-The Final Day

What a day it was; Manchester City had the title, then lost it, then had it again. Bolton were safe, then just as quickly they were gone. Arsenal secured their place in next season's Champions League, while fourth-placed Tottenham must wait until Sunday morning to see whether they will join them or not.
