Ancelotti: Cole going nowhere

Ancelotti: Cole going nowhere

07/25/2010 08:24:08 PM

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti is determined to hang on to left-back Ashley Cole.

The England international has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, now coached by former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, but Ancelotti is confident enough that Cole wants to stay that he does not feel the need to speak to him about his future when he returns to training in the coming week.

The Italian said: "Ashley is a Chelsea player and nobody wants to sell him. We want to keep him in our squad. I am 100% sure he will be at Chelsea this season."

"I consider him to be the best player in his position in the world."

"I don't need to talk to him. He is happy to stay at Chelsea. He never said he wanted to go. There is no chance he will go. No way."

The Blues are having a few issues defensively at the moment, with goalkeeper Petr Cech and centre-back Alex both sidelined by injury and Ricardo Carvalho claiming he has a clause in his contract which allows him to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

Chelsea star Didier Drogba is also set to miss the start of the EPL season after undergoing groin surgery following the World Cup.

EPL-The Final Day

What a day it was; Manchester City had the title, then lost it, then had it again. Bolton were safe, then just as quickly they were gone. Arsenal secured their place in next season's Champions League, while fourth-placed Tottenham must wait until Sunday morning to see whether they will join them or not.
