Blackpool are the surprise leaders on top of the opening Premier League table.
Ian Holloway's side showed they are not just in the top flight for a one-season sight-seeing trip with a thumping victory at hopeless Wigan.
The visitors had been tipped by almost every pundit to go straight back down to the Championship, but dominated from the first minute to the last at the DW Stadium.
They could already have been two goals clear by the time Gary Taylor-Fletcher put them ahead after 16 minutes.
The finish was scuffed but he was in so much space that Chris Kirkland never stood a chance of saving it.
Kirkland was at fault for the second goal, however, allowing a Marlon Harewood strike from 30 yards to slip through his fingers.
And it was three before the interval as Harewood bagged his second goal - again without a Wigan man anywhere near him.
Wigan, with half-time reinforcements Hendry Thomas and new signing Ronnie Stam, briefly rallied at the start of the second half.
They were unlucky not to pull one back when Steve Gohouri headed home Ben Watson's free-kick only to be pulled back by an offside flag.
And they knew it was not going to be their day when Stam crossed for £6million man Mauro Boselli to head against the crossbar.
Blackpool, though, sealed the win inside the final quarter when Alex Baptiste's right-wing cross sneaked in at Kirkland's near post.
And it would have been five only for Kirkland's super save from substitute Jason Euell's late header.
To their credit, Wigan battled to the end and Hugo Rodallega had a shot saved by Matthew Gilks, but the Seasiders' goalkeeper was a virtual spectator as his side got off to the perfect start.
