Auckland's win was of no consequence to the play-off qualifiers and they finished the campaign with a share of fourth place.

Auckland batted first at Eden Park's Outer Oval and posted 194-5. No single innings dominated and it was more consistency in the scoring that resulted in such a high total. Fifty-two runs were posted for the first wicket with Chris Nash setting a merry clip with 41 runs from 20 balls.

However, he fell to Doug Bracewell's bowling, one of his three wickets in the innings.

Jeet Raval hit 36 from 26 balls and while Gareth Hopkins scored 16 and Craig Cachopa 15, it was Colin de Grandhomme who lifted the momentum again with 44 not out from 24 balls and Jono Sole chipped in with 25 from 16 balls.

Tarun Nethula was the other wicket taker for CD with 2-32 from four overs.

Brad Smith attempted to provide an aggressive start for CD in their response but fell to Bhupinder Singh for 34 from 25 balls. But he fell at 70-3 and while Carl Cachopa (41 from 33 balls) and Keiran Noema-Barnett (40 from 30) added 62 runs for the fourth wicket, CD then lost four wickets for 19 runs.

They ended their 20 overs with 161-7, a loss by 33 runs. Lachlan Ferguson took 2-21 from his four overs and James Fuller 2-27.
