On Monday, Yuvraj Singh's father Yograj Singh revealed that if India's southpaw had tended to his ailment earlier, it would not have been as grave a concern today.
"I don't want to blame anyone. But I feel that things could have been different today," said Yograj suggesting the signs were visible since 2010.
The news of Yuvraj undergoing treatment for cancer rocked one and all when his physiotherapist Jatin Chaudhry confirmed the news. Chaudhary said the cancer is at a dangerous place in the body but is 100 per cent curable.
"If you recall, two years when Yuvi was playing in a T20 match at Mohali and played match-winning innings, in which after hitting a six he came running towards Suresh Raina and could be seen coughing badly," he said.
"But I knew that something was wrong. Six months back the doctor who saw the laboratory reports of Yuvraj had pleaded that he should be taken to the US for treatment.
With folded hands, the doctor said that best treatment is available in the US...but I don't blame anyone," he added.
Yograj however mentioned that though delayed, the treatment was shaping up well and Yuvraj would return to the game in a couple of months.
"He is responding well to the treatment and God willing we should see him back in action very soon," he said.
Yuvraj's oncologist Nitish Rohatgi confirmed that the batsman's condition was completely curable. And while he will have to undergo treatment for nine weeks, he can resume training in ten weeks' time.
