Paceman Mitchell Starc says being around the Australian Test team is helping him improve after he led the Sydney Sixers to a one-run win over the Perth Scorchers in the Twenty20 Big Bash League.
The New South Welshman, 21, took 3-28 from his four overs as the Sixers held on to win thanks to a last-ball run out at the SCG on Wednesday.
Needing three off the final ball to win, the Scorchers could only manage one with Marcus North (59) run out as he returned for a second.
Starc, who took the wickets of Shaun and Mitchell Marsh and Paul Collingwood in a devastating fifth over, said working with the Australian Test team was helping him get better every practice session.
"I think I'm improving every session I get around the Australian team, whether it be in the match or at training," the quick said.
"To be around the guys of the calibre of Ricky Ponting and Michael Clarke, and working with (bowling coach) Craig McDermott, I think it's all coming together at the moment."
"I'm still working hard and there's still a lot to go, but it's starting to come out pretty well."
Starc's three-wicket over put the Sixers in control after they set the Scorchers 177 to win, largely thanks to Steven Smith (51) and Nic Maddinson (49).
The speedster, who took four wickets in Australia's comprehensive third Test win over India last week, said he was pleased with his form.
"I'm feeling pretty good about it at the moment. Consistency is starting to come and the ball is swinging," Starc said.
"I'm pretty happy with how it's coming out and I don't think it's been better than that the last couple of weeks."
The Sixers will meet the Hobart Hurricanes at Blundstone Arena in their semi-final.
