Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara has escaped sanction for making contact with New Zealand's Nathan McCullum during the one-day international in Dambulla on Friday.
Sangakkara was charged with 'inappropriate and deliberate physical contact between players in the course of play during an international match' after colliding with the off-spinner when he was turning around to take off for a second run in the 27th over of the match.
McCullum complained to the umpire about the contact, and Sangakkara had a few words with his opponent shortly after the incident, but match referee Alan Hurst later cleared the 32-year-old of any wrongdoing.
"I looked at video footage of the incident from various angles and considered the detailed evidence of the umpires. I found that video evidence that was put forward by the player provided reasonable doubt as to whether the contact was deliberate," Hurst said.
Batsman Mahela Jayawardene said all was well between the two players involved in the incident.
"I saw the replay afterwards. Sanga was blind when he turned around," he said.
"I think you just need to concentrate on cricket rather than all the other things."
"Both the guys came and had a good chat in the dressing room. It's done and dusted."
The match was ultimately abandoned due to heavy rain.
Sri Lanka face India in a ODI on Sunday at Dambulla, in a continuation of their triangular series with New Zealand.
