Zimbabwe have won a potentially vital toss on a University Oval pitch with a green appearance to it and unsurprisingly asked New Zealand to bat first in the first of three ODI matches.
The tourists would have been crossing any appendages available that captain Brendan Taylor would call correctly, given the likelihood of plenty of early movement and the fact they were shot out for 51 and 143 in less than a day in losing the one-off Test by an innings and 301 runs earlier in the week.
They have done so and now it is up to the likes of seamers Kyle Jarvis, Elton Chigumbura, Keegan Meth and Shingi Masakadza to take full toll.
New Zealand have handed ODI debuts to middle order batsmen Tom Latham and Dean Brownlie along with all-rounder Andrew Ellis, with Jacob Oram to carry the drinks.
Lathan will bat at No.5 in the order with Brownlie to follow him, with Rob Nicol and Martin Guptill due to open the innings at 11am.
For Zimbabwe, Chigumbura comes in after being omitted from the Test match side as does Stuart Matsinkenyeri, Meth and veteran spinner Ray Price, who missed the innings defeat with a groin injury. Tino Mawoyo is their 12th man.
