Opener Peter Ingram has been dropped from the New Zealand team for Thursday's fourth Chappell-Hadlee One-Day International against Australia at Eden Park.
Australia leads the five-match series 2-1.
An announcement from New Zealand Cricket said that Ingram had left the side and would be playing for Central Districts in its Plunket Shield match with Wellington.
It was also expected that after having fitness tests that both Daryl Tuffey and James Franklin would be considered for the side.
A final decision will be left to see if they completed their match day warm-up routines satisfactorily.
