A brilliant batting performance from Tillakaratne Dilshan led Sri Lanka to victory over India in the Tri-Series final in Dambulla on Saturday.
A century from opener Dilshan helped the hosts set an imposing total of 299-8 from their 50 overs, and India could only manage 225 in reply before being dismissed in the 47th over.
Sri Lanka's decision to bat after winning the toss proved to be a good one as Dilshan and Mahela Jayawardene piled on 121 for the first wicket.
Dilshan in particular was in immaculate form, hitting the Indian attack to all parts of the ground as he smashed his way to 110.
By the time he was dismissed, the total was 217-3 with 10 overs still remaining, and some late hitting from captain Kumar Sangakkara propelled the total to just under 300.
Virender Sehwag, India's best player in the tournament, was dismissed early to leave the visitors with a massive challenge to reign-in Sri Lanka's impressive total.
Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni all kept the scoreboard ticking over, but a steady flow of wickets meant they would ultimately fall well short of the total.
Suraj Randiv and Thisara Perera both claimed three wickets for Sri Lanka as Dhoni finished with 67 while Kohli contributed 37.
"It was a good toss to win. The way the openers batted - we talked a lot about getting through the first 10 overs," Sangakkara said.
"Mahela [Jayawardene] and Dilshan started well and Dilshan continued to bat really well."
"Perera lengthens our batting but his bowling has been very impressive in the last couple of games."
Dhoni paid tribute to Sri Lanka saying they had deserved their win.
"Credit goes to Sri Lanka. They batted and bowled well. Our bowlers gave them a bit of width and that's one thing you don't want to give Dilshan. He smashed us all around the park," he said.
"The team that plays the best cricket on that particular day deserve to win."
