Broncos name Vance Joseph head coach with 4-year contract

Dolphins defensive coordinator Vance Joseph is expected to take over Gary Kubiak's old position in Denver.

The Broncos named Vance Joseph as their head coach Wednesday

The deal is for four years, according to multiple reports.

Joseph met with the Broncos on Tuesday and returned Wednesday to Denver facility. He initially had an interview scheduled with the Chargers later in the afternoon, but cancelled it as negotiations in Denver strengthened.

The 44-year-old coach has risen through the coaching ranks in recent years, spending the previous season as the Dolphins' defensive coordinator.

He caught the Broncos' eye in 2015 when he interviewed for their vacancy then. General manager John Elway reportedly came away impressed from that interview, although ultimately went with Gary Kubiak.

Joseph has been praised, and reportedly had every team with a coaching vacancy reach out to him aside from the Jaguars.
