Ortiz takes to Twitter to dash Red Sox fans' comeback dreams

Shortly after Hanley Ramirez appeared to hint David Ortiz could return, the Boston Red Sox legend squashed that talk.

David Ortiz was a popular topic of conversation on Thursday as Boston Red Sox position players reported to camp, but he will not be coming out of retirement.

First baseman Hanley Ramirez spoke at length about his beloved former teammate upon arrival at camp and said of Ortiz: "He told me if he tries to come back, I'm one of the reasons he'll come back. Because we miss each other."

Boston sports anchor Dan Roche tweeted that quote and tagged Ortiz in the process, sparking an immediate flood of replies from fans hoping Ramirez had just hinted at a Big Papi comeback.

But the man himself appeared on Twitter within 15 minutes to dash everyone's hopes, writing a reply to Roche that read: "Yes bro my boy [Ramirez] is so right. But I'm not playing baseball anymore."
