Chargers tackle King Dunlap arrested on suspicion of violating protective order

Nashville police officers were called to the scene of a reported domestic disturbance at Dunlap's girlfriend's home Thursday night.

Chargers left tackle King Dunlap was arrested Thursday night after police were called to a domestic disturbance complaint at his girlfriend's Nashville home.

According to an arrest warrant cited by The Tennesseean, Dunlap was at the home in violation of a protective order that did not allow contact between him and the woman.

Online records show Dunlap, 31, was booked into jail at 12:45 a.m. Friday and released less than three hours later. The Tennesseean reported he posted a $1,000 bond and is due in court next month.

Dunlap, who is listed at 6-foot-9, 330 pounds, grew up in Nashville and played at Auburn before the Eagles selected him in the seventh round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He spent his rookie season on injured reserve but spent four years mostly as a reserve lineman with Philadelphia before stepping into a larger role in San Diego.

Dunlap has been the Chargers' primary starter at left tackle — when healthy — for the past four seasons. He was limited to seven games in 2015 due to a concussion and sprained ankle and missed four games last season with migraines and a knee injury.

He is entering the third season of a four-year, $28 million contract.
